Waste - Produce/Recycling
We are committed to minimising our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices throughout Wholegood. We responsibly manage our waste streams, zeroing landfill contributions, and maximising resource recovery.
We are committed to recycling. We actively recycle numerous products that enter our facility, emphasising the importance of resource conservation and circular economy principles. Specifically, we prioritise the recycling of cardboard and plastic materials, diverting them from landfill.
In addition to recycling, we have implemented comprehensive strategies for managing food waste, aiming to minimise waste while maximising its beneficial use. Any fresh produce that remains suitable for consumption is directed towards charitable organizations. By redistributing edible food, we not only reduce waste but also contribute positively to our community. Food items that are no longer suitable for human consumption undergo anaerobic digestion, converting organic waste into renewable energy sources such as biogas and fertiliser.
Central to our waste management strategy is our zero landfill policy. We are committed to ensuring that none of our waste products end up in landfills. Instead, we prioritise responsible waste management practices that minimise environmental impact and maximise resource recovery.
Our waste management strategy reflects our dedication to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. By implementing recycling initiatives, comprehensive food waste management strategies, and adhering to a zero landfill policy, we strive to minimise our environmental footprint, contribute positively to our community, and lead by example within our industry.
